My name: Peter de Haas. I always wanted to create my own studio. But it just didn't work out. I had little luck with my guitar playing so I quit. When I was 30 or so I started playing the bass guitar. I saw an ad from a band looking for a bass guitarist. I had only been playing for a few months and yet I was accepted. After twenty years the band stopped. This was in the year we were unable to practice and perform due to Covid 19.
Then I collected some used studio equipment and started making my own songs. The first ones weren't that great but after a few months I started to get the hang of it and the songs got better too. The goal was to make a complete album with 12 or 13 songs. In the end there were 12 songs on the album.
So this makes me a musician, a songwriter and a producer.
How do I start writing the songs?
Step 1. Load a drumtrack into Cubase
Step 2. Start jamming on guitar till a verse, pre-chorus and chorus are done
Step 3. Add a bass line
Step 4. Add optional keyboards
Step 5. Start writing lyrics
Step 6. Record you vocals several times
Step 7. Mix your song
Step 8. Export your song
Looks simple but it isn't.
